Not sure if it can get sadder than this......a through-lounge-window-having-breakfast-while-watching-TV tick as two Buzzards floated over Hodges Street, a mile from the town centre, at just above rooftop height this morning.

Over the last few days a few Lesser Black-Backed Gulls on roofs adjacent to Bithell's Waste Recycling centre off Poolstock/Chapel Lane inc several Darvic ringed birds. No evidence of any nesting going on, presumably just birds which have bathed or loafed on the Wigan Flashes going there after the yard closes. 20 Lesser Black-Backed and 2 Herring Gull just before six o'clock tonight

Mike,a walk down the canal from the town centre to Scotmans Flash would be a good bet for Grey Wagtail but they are thin on the ground. The Ravens nest site is indeed a secret as per the many postings ref breeding birds on the forum.

cheers geoff biggrin

Both Ravens at the nest site early afternoon. One stuck it's head in to nest them flew off. I had no bins so couldn't see whether it had food. A short while later the other bird sat on the nest.

Male Peregrine Falcon over Wallgate again this morning, have checked around Trencherfield and Eckersley Mills for signs its been around longer but without any luck, was going to check the church opposite Go Outdoors this lunch time when I spotted a Female Sparrowhawk with a Feral Pigeon on the car park, she quickly got it into the hedges surrounding the car park and dispatched it and was completely oblivious to the people and traffic going by, thanks to David Wilson who quickly turned up with mine and his cameras

I saw it this morning Jimmy, noisily chasing 4 Jackdaw off past the Scholes tower blocks (maybe the same four seen by Paul yesterday?). Must have been an impressive sight for any residents of the flats.

Raven back on territory calling loudly for about an hour i think it was the male but no sign of its mate yet.
I've yet to see any display flights yet of any of the birds in the years of them being in the town centre.
