Peregrine flew over the cathedral this morning and carried on towards the CIS building.

One was drifting around the Manchester Cathedral and Deansgate area at around 5.15pm yesterday.

the adult female was perched on the appartments next to the lowry this afternoon. had a good look around for the young male but no signs.

Not sure if this is classed as city centre but I was walking along Oldham Road and I'm sure a peregrine flew between the Royal Mail and Wing Yip. I thought it was a pigeon at first as i wasn't paying much attention until it made a chik-chik-chik-chik calling noise. I'm not aware pigeons make this noise.
It appeared dark grey on its underside and had pointed wings. Apologies for poor description but it was over me and gone quite quickly.

Single bird circling over the Palace Hotel (now renamed Principal?) at 8.50am this morning, went to land on the top of the clock tower but thought better of it.  Maybe didn't approve of the name change.

Hi Craig, just to confirm that the peregrine in the photo is 100% last year's male, I do have many photos of this bird over the last 6 weeks & also of the red Darvic ring with the letters RA & the adult male has still not been seen in the area for some time now.

Might be worth trying to get a better view of the right hand bird for its colour ring as I would say it looks to be an older adult bird or the old male returned back on site. It looks too adult for last years male so early and so would be good if you get the ring?

adult female & what is possibly last years juvenile both showing well this afternoon.
the reason I say possibly is because this bird on the right hand side of attached photo (adult female on the left) could be last years juvenile which has now lost its streaks & gained its barring, which is possible for this now 2nd calendar year peregrine falcon.

The female literally just flew past cathedral with a kill, male followed Overhead.. Flew up behind travel inn close to the nest site.

RSPB have released a statement saying they don't expect the pair to breed now, and have said the disappearance of the male for a bit when he was trapped in that courtyard may well have been a contributing factor.

Last year's male & adult female peregrine sat within feet of each other on the letter s of the cis tower this afternoon.
Still no signs of the adult male. a minute after posting my original post, at 7.05pm I had 3 peregrine falcons overhead making a lot of noise one them being chased off, because of the tall buildings I wasn't quick enough to find out who was who. maybe the adult male is still around ?? whilst trying to relocate where the peregrines were I witnessed an attack from the adult female & last years male. the female with a pigeon in her talons was then followed by last years male & both went to eat there kill. photos attached of the 2 after the attack & both together on the cis.

I have not seen any signs of breeding since the male was released. I have not made a positive ID of the male for many weeks. Last year's male is still around. I very much doubt the peregrines have bred elsewhere. It would be normal for the peregrines to chase off corvids and gulls near their nest but I have not witnessed this activity anywhere around the city. The female is visible for extended periods when you might otherwise expect her be attending to her nest. So unless the male is doing all the nest chores, I think we can be confident that there will be no chicks this year (famous last words). It seems to me the male has not been able to get into breeding condition after his starvation. I hope he has gone off on a wander and will soon return. If anyone sees him I'd love to hear of it or even better see an image. I am sincerely hoping he has not perished.

No point this year. They have not used the tray, possible disturbance early in season and traumatic time for male when he got stuck in the well on top of building. Hopefully may have used another tray but it isn't looking too good at moment.

There has been no sign of the Kentish Plover at Audenshaw Reservoirs all day today David, including from pre-7am this morning.

Peregrine in dramatic aerial dogfight with Feral Pigeons in Piccadilly Gardens this afternoon at 3pm. Great viewing from Caffe Nero armchair !

Five times it scattered the pigeons which sought the sanctuary of the tree sculpture to the left of the café. No kill this time.

The falcon disappeared over Mosley Street eventually, no doubt hoping for more unaware pigeons.

Yesterday, last years juvenile being driven off territory by an adult. I presume the adult was the parent male. The female just sat on one of her favourite perches and watched.

I visited Manchester on Wednesday. I saw RA (last years juvenile) but did not see the adult male.

I will be visiting Manchester today (if my injured knee is up to it).
You might recall we had a sub adult male on site in late March 2014. It was driven off by an adult.
