Might be worth trying to get a better view of the right hand bird for its colour ring as I would say it looks to be an older adult bird or the old male returned back on site. It looks too adult for last years male so early and so would be good if you get the ring?
Cheers, Craig.
Hi Craig, just to confirm that the peregrine in the photo is 100% last year's male, I do have many photos of this bird over the last 6 weeks & also of the red Darvic ring with the letters RA & the adult male has still not been seen in the area for some time now.

adult female & what is possibly last years juvenile both showing well this afternoon. the reason I say possibly is because this bird on the right hand side of attached photo (adult female on the left) could be last years juvenile which has now lost its streaks & gained its barring, which is possible for this now 2nd calendar year peregrine falcon.
RSPB have released a statement saying they don't expect the pair to breed now, and have said the disappearance of the male for a bit when he was trapped in that courtyard may well have been a contributing factor.
Adult female & last year's male on show again this afternoon/evening. The male perched on top of the arndale calling & then later joining the female on the cis.
Last year's male & adult female peregrine sat within feet of each other on the letter s of the cis tower this afternoon. Still no signs of the adult male.
a minute after posting my original post, at 7.05pm I had 3 peregrine falcons overhead making a lot of noise one them being chased off, because of the tall buildings I wasn't quick enough to find out who was who. maybe the adult male is still around ??
whilst trying to relocate where the peregrines were I witnessed an attack from the adult female & last years male. the female with a pigeon in her talons was then followed by last years male & both went to eat there kill. photos attached of the 2 after the attack & both together on the cis.

I have not seen any signs of breeding since the male was released. I have not made a positive ID of the male for many weeks. Last year's male is still around. I very much doubt the peregrines have bred elsewhere. It would be normal for the peregrines to chase off corvids and gulls near their nest but I have not witnessed this activity anywhere around the city. The female is visible for extended periods when you might otherwise expect her be attending to her nest. So unless the male is doing all the nest chores, I think we can be confident that there will be no chicks this year (famous last words). It seems to me the male has not been able to get into breeding condition after his starvation. I hope he has gone off on a wander and will soon return. If anyone sees him I'd love to hear of it or even better see an image. I am sincerely hoping he has not perished.
No point this year. They have not used the tray, possible disturbance early in season and traumatic time for male when he got stuck in the well on top of building. Hopefully may have used another tray but it isn't looking too good at moment.
Thanks Ivan, that's a shame. Fingers crossed they found somewhere else to set up home.

Spoke to the guy who is in charge of the project today in town at the RSPB stall, the webcam delay has been due to the view from the camera showing too much of the area surrounding the nest and therefore potentially giving away its location- they've been working on cropping it.
Any news on when the webcam will be back online please?
Camera on the Manchester peregrines has gone LIVE today. Doesn't seem to be much activity at the moment. Here's the link tweeted from RSPB Manchester..

Male juvenile Peregrine on the CIS tower at 3:45pm. First GM one for me, made up to some extent for missing out on the Kentish Plover at Audie, which was apparently still there at 7am(ish) this morning. Bloody annoying as I commute past the reservoir every day.
There has been no sign of the Kentish Plover at Audenshaw Reservoirs all day today David, including from pre-7am this morning.

Yesterday, last years juvenile being driven off territory by an adult. I presume the adult was the parent male. The female just sat on one of her favourite perches and watched.
I will be visiting Manchester today (if my injured knee is up to it).
You might recall we had a sub adult male on site in late March 2014. It was driven off by an adult.
well now ! Adrian I am going to email you some pics that you will find very interesting as it looks like with now have a new peregrine falcon on the scene
both adult male & the female peregrine falcon showing well this aft/eve, the adult male looking well indeed as if nothing has happened to him & supporting his new bling I managed to get some decent pics of him & zoomed in on his red darvic ring on his right leg, but only managed to get clear view of the second letter A but the first letter is either R or K.
rob, as you can tell the male was released in Manchester.
after looking at my pictures again it turns out the letters are RA on red darvic ring.

Earlier this week the male Peregrine was taken in by the RSPCA after having been found by a builder in a very narrow court yard that was too small in size for it to escape from. The Bird was taken to a recovery centre in Rochdale. The bird appeared uninjured but was found to be starving. On Thursday the bird was given an aluminium ring and a red Darvic ring (under licence) and was successfully released from a high rise later that day. Thanks go to the builder who found the bird and all those involved in its care and treatment.
The poor peregrine, but turned out well in the end. A hats off to that builder though. Hopefully he will go about his usual business now & carry on with his duties
Well done Adrian.

had a mooch around this aft/eve from 3.30-5.30pm the first time I have been into the city centre this year due to other distractions. the adult male was seen on 4 occasions in different areas at different times best views were when he was on the town hall, no signs of the female, hopefully she is doing her duties.
A Carrion Crow just had the temerity to fly past Town Hall, only to be subjected to a vicious divebombing from a Peregrine and escorted out of the area.
