A Ringed-necked Parakeet has been seen regularly for the last 4 to 5 weeks in Farnworth (central) Park. Seen mainly around the trees that encompass the bowling green.
Information thanks to Martin Ford.

Have had parakeets flying over in the city a couple of mornings this week at ~0830 (well, University of Manchester, near the catholic church on Oxford Road). Only heard them the first time, but the second time saw it was a pair bombing across, I think going roughly South-East.

A work colleague informed me that every night this week at dusk he's seen a pair of ring necked Parakeets fly over his house out of Leverhulme Park in Bolton.

Alexandrine Parakeet in my back garden in Heaton Mersey this afternoon. We regularly get flocks of double figures of Ring-necked Parakeets but I have not seen an Alexandrine Parakeet before.

Wednesday July 19th
Pulled up on my Dane Bank driveway at around 5.20pm and there were 2 in the Silver Birch Tree at the edge of our front garden, their call gave them away.
First time I've ever seen them around here and I thought it worth a mention on the relatively quiet Denton thread.

An interesting comment posted yesterday on one of my Ring-necked Parakeet YouTube videos

(From) Da Malat
"We have about 10 Parakeets fly over each evening travelling from Altrincham area to Wythenshawe. I remember quite a few years ago the groundsman at Rose Hill Remand Centre in Northenden used to breed Parakeets and release them into the grounds (he sited nest boxes along the high back wall)"

I don't know how far back this claim refers to but may explain the origins / population boost of these birds ?

I Googled Rose Hill Remand Centre and all posts relate to child sex abuse, so I'm reluctant to pursue the detective work into this claim.

I have been wondering what the commotion was across the road for the past couple of days, and put it down to magpie chicks begging for food.

Today two ring -necked parakeets flew over Reddish Road heading for the CP making the same row.

Its been 7 years since I last saw them in this area.
