ELTON RESERVOIR

Quick check before work produced 06:30am 27/6/17 1 Female Common Scoter. 150+ Sand Martin. 15:00- 16:00 pm went to have a better look at the Scoter after work but kept in the middle of the reservoir. On walking back a nice Adult Mediterranean Gull Dropped in for about 30 seconds before a boat scared it off in the direction of Lowercroft. Sand martins had reduced in numbers. Cheers Steven

7-9.30 this a.m. with Brian yielded just a Peregrine over as the only bird of note, Elton is a little depressing at the moment due to very high water levels, not sure what the canal trusts objectives are but they don't appear to be looking after the wildlife at the moment.
Cheers Ian

A nice surprise this evening, was a male Redstart in the Hawthorns on the viewing mound, but very elusive in the cold northerly wind. It showed twice while I was there between 6.50pm to 7.45pm and one of those views were because I accidently flushed it from one of the small hawthorns as I walked up to the mound.

Also 500+ Sand Martin, 4 Common Sandpiper and at least 4 Whitethroats around the Creek.
