First time visit for me to this excellent Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserve to see the breeding Ospreys.
The young are now fully able to fly and so the family of 2 adults and 3 young are ranging widely. The nest can be seen in the distance from the viewing area. 1 youngster flew in and settled down on the nest. A second bird was seen circling in the distance and mobbed by a Buzzard.
Other sightings: 1 Sparrowhawk wizzed past close-by clutching a prey item 2 Blackcap
The feeding station had: 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker. Another was in a tree close by. 2 Siskin A family of Greenfinch A few Chaffinch, Blue and Great Tits
The place is alive with dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and insects with a great variety of bog plants. A lovely place with helpful friendly staff volunteers and definitely one I will be returning to.
