Sorry Andrew, I didnt see your question until just now (so didnt quite take me a year!!) The Greater Manchester Local Record Centre is the best option. Using their Swift system for inputting records is incredibly easy to do once you are set up. It can accept records for all types of wildlife, not just birds. I would highly recommend it. Info is in the record submission section of the Manchester Birding website, or on here under the Greater Manchester Needs Your Bird Sightings sub forum, below the Greater Manchester Bird Sightings section.

Interesting fly. There is one in my Chorlton kitchen as I type this. Should these records be recorded anywhere specific?

An odd-looking fly was just inside our patio door on 7/8/22. It kept the patterned wings held out and occasionally walked around, moving the wings up and down like a small clockwork toy. Apparently it is a Flutter Fly, Palloptera muliebris and possibly the first record in Greater Manchester. Thanks to Colin Davies and Andy Bissitt for info

Got a phone call from Dave Broome to say he was watching a White-lettered Hairstreak in Tydesley Cemetery. Popped up and after a small wait had nice views of one perched in the treetops. Also saw what was almost certainly another one flying around the Elm tree.
