a dearth of birds in my garden since the moron who lives behind me cleared all the brambles and medium sized bushes from the back street that divides us. The only visitors yesterday were our large flock of starlings ,a grey wagtail and a pair of wood pigeons. No sign of our small flock of house sparrows. He has replaced his fence panels. He could have done this from inside his garden.

The Grey Wagtail which has been visiting my garden since October turned up this afternoon with a female companion. The nearest water to here is a stream which runs parallel to Stoneclough about 300 yds in a straight line.Which may be were they may emanate from.

3 new birds today. 2 Goldfinches 2 Collared Doves. I was going to wash my hands in the kitchen this afternoon when I saw this large bird on the garden path.It was a sparrowhawk and it had a Starling in its talons and was plucking at its breast.Sadly the Starling died. I opened the back door but the raptor refused to move and carried on feeding ,staring me out. I closed the door and it flew into the large conifer behind our house. My wife was very upset. At first she thought it might have been Wally our resident Grey Wagtail but thankfully it wasnt. Garden total now 18. GM list now 52.

I have an adult Blackbird visiting my garden on a regular basis. It has full adult plumage, except its beak is black and not yellow. I am wondering if it is a European bird.

My front garden is all flowers and a large bush,it attracts lots of insects including grasshoppers from next doors jungle. The best birds visiting at the moment on a daily basis are a Tree sparrow and a Grey Wagtail .
