Absolutely the right approach. The birds' welfare comes first
It's not a Schedule 1 species, bizarrely, but locally very rare. It's popularity means that people try to get too close to nest sites for one reason or another
Personally, I won't even discuss general locations with anyone I don't know, even well known sites. You don't know who might be listening in

Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers still cling on within the county Charles but their presence has not been publicised on this forum for many years now due to (deliberate human) disturbance issues of one kind or another at every site they have been previously recorded at. Similarly, at least one or two locations in fairly close proximity to GM also follow their own similar news blackout which is a similar shame but ultimately has been proven to be entirely necessary.

Ive not seen a report for a long time of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in the GM area or just outside,Eg- Dunham Massey,Marbury etc...Over the years
I have always chased them, seen a few,but for the last year Ive searched,to no-avail.I know they are declining drastically.
but Im afraid to say.I think there are non left around GM area,Hope someone can say they have heard of sightings or seen one
but I live in hope they have just been overlooked.
Thanks for your replys, now I understand.
