Whilst hunting the firecrest, attention was drawn by first bumblebee of the year (tree bumblebee), and first hoverfly also, an eristalis sp but could not determine which without the correct (close focus) binoculars to hand. Things warming up!

Yesterday at 1:30 saw a mink just up river fron the weir, climb from the river up the tree which has fallen. It climbed the branch until it saw me then jumped back in and swam to the far bank.
