Lots of passerine activity in surrounding woods and gull/corvid activity in neighbouring fields. Perhaps all waiting for nuptial flight/eruption of winged ants this evening?

Yesterday 01/04/2016 We had four Shelducks flying over Bank House Farm with a Ruddy Shelduck - which has to be an escapee from somewhere (this is not an April fools joke). There is also a pair of Mandarin Duck which are quite conspicuous around Bawhill Wood. Perhaps there was a waterfowl collection at Big Pool, Shavington Gardens in the recent past? Grey wagtails x2 at Adderley locks along the SU Canal Mute Swan x2 in same location with another pair near the village Sparrowhawk x1 at roadside woods opposite Ferney Heys Kestrel x1 in Adderley village

Kestrel x1 near Pepperhill Cottage Skylark x1 displaying near Pepperhill Cottage. Another displaying at Bank House Farm Lapwing 200-300 in the same field opposite Tittenley Farm as per the previous sighting Buzzard x1 at Bawhill Wood

Male and female Goosander at Bridge 74 along the Shropshire Union canal this afternoon, with a pair of Mute Swans at bridge 72 Tawny Owls have been quite vocal around Shavington Park this past week (when it hasn't been raining!)

Records here from over the Xmas and New Year period (from 17th December to 1st January) near Bank House Farm:
Barn Owl x1 (seen foraging along the fence post at 04.30am 21st December) Tawny Owl x3 heard singing on Xmas period evenings without the wind and rain! Buzzard x2 pairs (one pair seen daily) Kestrel x1 (seen on 27th and 31st December) Raven x1 (seen on 18th December)
