I seem to remember some years ago going to see a juvenile Long Tailed Skua on a golfcourse in West Yorks which stayed for a few days.I was told by the locals that it was feeding on a nearby Elderberry bush,so not only gulls (and Blackcaps etc) that like Elderberries!!!

I witnessed something similar in October 2010 at Ludworth Moor.
"Unusual feeding behaviour from Black-headed Gulls as they hovered above hawthorns then repeatedly picked off single berries. About 6 birds were doing this at any one time."

Hi Fred
I noted this behaviour quite a few years ago by the River Tame in Greenfield. This, and a similar report from elsewhere in the county, were mentioned in the County Report at the time. Have never seen it again though, so it must be quite unusual.
