I've seen enormous jackdaw roosts (hundreds of birds) in Irwell Vale not far from Bury.

This occurs every day. They are Jackdaws, and for an hour each evening, as it gets dark, several hundred (possibly a couple of thousand) birds fly over as they go to roost. Similarly, in the morning, they can be seen going the other way. Many fly over Elton.

I was in Bolton Street, Bury, just finishing at the Station, and I saw what must be 300 or so birds flying from behind the Museum, more or less due South towards Manchester. 300 is a wild guess, there may have been more. I suspect they were jackdaws, but I am sure others will have seen them. This was about 16.40 or so. It was gloomy but not dark. Anyone know?
This morning.
Cheers Steven.
