I saw a Fox today asleep on the north tip of south isle. I thought at first it had been shot, as it lay partly in mud. But no, it woke up!
To me this is the villain that has wiped out the Tern chicks. I know some people are fond of Foxes but not when they take my terns!

For the last two days, seen in a glade in the wood, 3
Speckled Wood butterflies.
2 of them dancing around together, for long spells.
3 spots on the hind wings, which I believe
indicates second brood.

This pm ; 2 Brown Hawker Dragonflies by the water and 2 Red Admiral Butterflies. One of the butterflies was flying across the Lodge.

This morning ...17 Small Tortoisehell Butterflies.
This afternoon: 2 Foxes tumbling together in southern fields and then apparently mating.
This afternoon 2 Foxes were seen together, on the west shore.
Two Foxes seen together, this am, and later one Fox seen stalking a small flock of Jackdaw.

Today: At least 4 Brown Hawkers around the SE viewing area.
At least 3 Speckled Wood butterflies along the footpath hedge, and a Grey Rat keeping the birds off the table in the wood.

A Hedgehog was rescued from the middle of Lock Lane
this am, just before traffic.
Eventually provision made in a local garden.
