Lots of Shaded Broad-bar moths on the Birds Foot Trefoil and vetch patches along with a Tortrix moth I couldn't identify. A couple of Gatekeepers and still quite a few Meadow Browns. Single Brown Hawker whilst a single Migrant Hawker was the first sign of Autumn.

Found a couple of Pyramidal Orchids today, as far as I know the first that have been recorded here, but I will happily be corrected on that.

Meadow Brown and Speckled Wood butterflies aplenty today along with a couple of Commas, but the Small Skippers that have been around in good numbers the last few days seemed to have done a disappearing act today.

As the Helleborines have started to flower I have seen a few more and there's now around 30 flower spikes in a smallish area.

Last few days around Viridor (west side) have seen quite a few Comma's and Speckled Wood's out and about plus one Red Admiral. There's also been good numbers of odonata with plenty Common Darters, Souther, Common and Migrant Hawkers. I'm also convinced I had Black Darter. It shouldn't be here really, and I cant quite account for it, but unless Ive made a huge ID blunder one female was present yesterday.

Lots of dragonfly activity this afternoon.
Brown Hawker 1
Migrant Hawkers/Common Hawker - numerous but always mobile and usually too far away to confirm the id, but based on size most were Migrant. At least 20.
Common Darter -10+
Ruddy Darter 1
I'm also fairly sure I saw a Black Darter. Smaller and more compact than the Commons, much darker too - black actually! 90% sure it wasn't female Common, but its a strange habitat for Black Darter. Anyone got any thoughts?
