Around 12:40 I was joining the slip-road for the clockwise exit of junction 13 on the M60. There was a lone Egret in the field on the south side of the water treatment plant, at roughly SJ743998. As I was driving and it was on its own, I wasnt able to judge the size, so unsure whether it was Little or Great White. It may be visible from the canal towpath

It is a shame that in these instances such records for these important little areas are not submitted to the official recording bodies as it is they who are consulted by developers for details of birds and other wildlife. Individual submissions are rarely utilised in such instances as they are not considered to have been ratified.

I know I bang on about submitting records and I know it generally falls on deaf ears but these increasing applications for developments within the county surely highlight my plight?

I should point out that non of the above is necessarily aimed at this development or the posts on this thread but it comes as a timely reminder that your observations carry weight and power only when submitted to the Greater Manchester Bird Recording Group. When we are consulted for records for a site, if we have nothing then how can we put up a fight

I have sent a list of all the breeding and wintering birds including grasshopper warbler great spotted woodpecker tawny owl plus 6 other warblers reed bunting wintering stonechat snipe and jack snipe at this site in my objection to this development

This is a request for all members who reside or birdwatch in the Worsley area. On Thursday, 7th November an application by Peel holdings to build around 600 homes on fields opposite and at the side of Bridgewater school, Worsley Road, Worsley was refused by Salford City Council. One of the fields which is a small marshland area is home to various warblers, buntings etc. It could be classed as a miniature reserve. In the event that Peel may appeal,I would ask that anyone birdwatching on these fields please document their sightings on this or any other sites which would enable those opposing the development to have additional evidence to help their opposition.
