Welcome to the Focalpoint Optics Forum on the Manchester Birding Forum. As a long established (over 20 years) local optics company Focalpoint is very proud to be supporting these Forums and to be here to help Greater Manchester Birders and those from further afield who use this excellent resource.
Please feel free to pick our brains (!) about all issues related to nature watching optics and any of the accessories associated with our hobby. We will also try to keep members up to speed with any new products in the birding market, provide reviews of new products and announce whenever we have special in-store events or field days at local reserves.
I, Paul (Doc) Brewster, have been manager at Focalpoint for over 4 years and have worked here since 1999. I am a very keen birder, so have the dream job of chatting to birders and watching the birds in the Cheshire Countryside out of our showroom window.
My links to Greater Manchester Birding are strong having lived and birded in South Manchester for 20 years before moving to Cheshire. I was a founder member of Shell Carrington NR and my local patch was the Mersey Valley especially Chorlton Water Park. I was Assistant County Recorder for Greater Manchester for several years and co-edited the Bird Report, co-wrote it and was on the County Rarities Committee. I still write the UKBS round up in BirdWatching Magazine for Greater Manchester each month and do the summary for the Mersey Valley in the South Manchester RSPB Newsletter.
As the above shows, I have always supported birding in Manchester and it seemed like a logical continuation for Focalpoint to support the excellent work that Ian does in providing his fantastic resource for us local birders.
