Hi Sally, yes you did the right thing in leaving them to their own devices; even if it might appear cruel to do so.

Yesterday, around 4-30 pm I saw a sparrowhawk which had a parakeet covered under its wings. I live in retirement flats in Didsbury and we have very large grounds. The two birds were screeching and under a hedge. I didn,t know what to do, whether to try and rescue the parakeet or not, I left them. Does anyone know where the parakeet and sparrowhawk might have come from ? and did I do the right thing?
