Add that to the £5million that the Ruddy Duck cull has cost so far ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/mar/08/ruddy-ducks-extermination ) and we could have a tidy sum that could be spent on habitat creation or conservation!!

Today's article in the Daily Telegraph by Louise Grey, highlights some of the costs to the Taxpayer, of the proposed cull. So far Defra have spent £750,000 surveying the cull zones in Gloucester and Somerset. A further £300,000 has been spent by Natural England on licensing activities , such as training farmers to shoot Badgers. and Defra has budgeted for policing costs of £4 million if the cull goes ahead.

Its not fantastic news yet.
This cull has only been suspended due to the problems in trying to kill large numbers of Badgers just before the Winter months. Next Spring and Summer the powerful groups of people who support the killing of Badgers will also be able to kill next years cubs as well as the adults.
Watching Badgers in the wild is a memory that will stay with you for life. If you want to have the chance to see them in the future please show your support in the stopping of this cull.

Also signed and think it's brilliant that nearly 78,000 have signed in the last 2 weeks but can't understand that only 10,146 Birders nationwide since Nov 2011 have signed the e-petition to protect our Birds of Prey. Cheers Ian

With the proposed Badger cull imminent, a cull which is more politically motivated rather than anything else, this petition needs your support. Though there are many very high profile celebrities backing the petition to stop the cull, your name is just as important as theirs.
