A very basic ID feature between Roach and Rudd is that the Rudd would have Crimson fins which would be evident at close quarters especially if they were active. These two species hybridize frequently, it then becomes very tricky unless they are in the hand of course !
Hope this helps for the future

Steve,
They won't destroy them, will they? Hope not as this is one I would certainly be on the lookout for. Saw them in France earlier this year.
Andy
Don't think so. Just monitoring the distribution.

At the Vimto Park today - a Brown Rat and a Harlequin Ladybird, the latter on the back of Mr Rigby's head, where it presumably landed in a frantic search for Aphids, the Yellow-Browed Warbler presumably having eaten all those in the surrounding trees.....

On Saturday 13th August, an adult and two young mink seen on the far bank of the Irwell, opposite to the cathedral. They went into an opening in the wall bordering the bank, which I think may have been a den. An official sighting has been made to the database.
