Just been listening to a Goldfinch in my garden whose song was identical in structure to a Chaffinch but with the tone of a Goldfinch The result was something a bit like a Tree Pipit!

I would say Chaffinch. A singing Tree Pipit can sound very "Chaffinchy".

Walking home from work on Wednesday 6/6/12 at 15.35,. I was walking up the slip road of the Parkway coming off Barton dock road when i heared a birdsong i hadn't heared before. Upon revision of an R.S.P.B. cd of birdsong the closest thing i can get it too is a Tree Pipit. It came from a dense thicket inbetween the parkway and the sliproad itself. The only diffrence was the song didn't have a sharp trill at the end. Can anyone help me with this dilema, i know it couldn't be a Tree Pipit so i need someone to put me out of my misery please ?
