Hi Roy,
Thanks for the photos, yes it's Egyptian Goose, first record for The Quays, let's hope it visits the site again
Cheers, James

Which would mean, perhaos, that the Pennington Flash individual popped over to The Quays for a dip before returning back to Penny?

Try googling pictures of Egyptian Goose, Roy. That's what it sounds like to me.

Is the list viewable in some shape or form?
Just that it's a regular stomping ground of mine and I'm curious.
Cheers.

I make it 103 species (plus Barnacle Goose) have been recorded on Salford Quays
Thanks to everyone who has helped with compiling the list, especially Steve Atkins, Pete Berry, Steven Burke & Nick Hilton
Ferruginous Duck wasn't an official rarity when it occurred so a National Rarity is yet to be found on the Quays, here's hoping the wait isn't too long before one is found

Thanks Pete, I knew Scaup had been recorded, didn't know that Ferruginous Duck had been seen there (but I'm just old enough to remember the good old Aythya days at Chorlton/Rostherne !)

In the good old days when we had 3000 Pochard feeding on the quays(before Peel Holdings aereated the water and killed all the invertabrae that the birds were feeding on) I have seen Ferruginous Duck there twice, and Scaup on numerous occasions.

My oh my, spring has certainly sprung this year on Salford Quays
Mediterranean & Little Gulls, Whinchat, Redstart, Yellow Wagtail, Wheatears, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroats, Common Sandpiper, & large flocks of terns, Swifts & hirundines so far, with hopefully plenty more to come
There's even been a day with birders present reaching double figures !!
I'm currently doing some work getting the Salford Quays Official Bird List together so if you have any older records for the Quays to contribute to the Official Bird List, please detail here
Thanks
James
