I was a newbie in April when I joined but I birded intensely over the summer and this site helped me a big deal - I didn't even feel like a proper birder until the other day when I finally purchased my Collins Bird Guide - a book I recommend you also get as it's very very comprehensive. Also, the site guide on the homepage gives you an idea of places to visit.

Hi Louise, welcome to the forum.
If you look through the website you'll find a really informative site guide of a lot of the main bird watching sites in Greater Manchester.

Well I have been birdwatching on and off all my life, but have just retired, and dont know many sites locally to visit, only really go to Pennington. I did notice a post this morning about Worsley Woods by a guy who had seen allsorts earlier today. I wander down, its not far from me, but I didn't really see much at all, 4 heron, a couple of teal, various tits, including I think a marsh/willow. So I figure I was going to the wrong places or wasn't patient enough.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received, Thanks.
