Northenden is my new 'neck of the woods', so have started to mooch around Kenworthy Lane Woods a fair bit. 12/3/11 KL Woods Female Sparrowhawk perched, then on patrol R. Mersey Flock L/T Tits at very close range Grey Wagtail Reed Bunting (m) 3 x Mistle Thrush rucking Chaffinch (m / f) KL Woods Nuthatch Whilst locating the calling Nuthatch, saw a flock of Starling-sized birds descend on the tree tops. They were very flitty and I only got a clear view of one for a short time. It had a white breast with bold black streaking, the head looked darker and streaked. They then roved off over the treetops. I was very confused for a while, but have concluded they must have been Redwings. 14/3/11 KL Woods Chaffinch (f) Whilst watching the Chaffinch (treetop), another bird of similar dimension flitted through, briefly. My only impression was that it looked like one big streak. Probably a female Siskin. Song Thrush Northenden Riverside Park Goosander (m) Greenfinch x 4
