I'm not normally a sentimentalist, but the sight of a female Mallard purposefully trotting down the middle of the main road onto our estate tonight with 15 or so ducklings in tow, en route to the local pond just has to make you a) smile and b) admire their tenacity.

Ian, if you can best just to leave alone she should sort them out herself, however if you are really worried call the RSPCA hotline 0300 1234 999.

Just got home to find a Mallard with 8 newly hatched young sat on the lawn next to my pond. Advice please, what do they eat and will they find enough in my garden?. Should I feed them, but what with?. The female has been a frequent visitor recently and my son found her this p.m. on our front garden so manouvered them through the house into the back ! Cheers Ian .................. Correction, 10 young!!!!!
