Sounds like a good local patch, quick to check when you're passing and from what you've written, producing some records for the county database. Always interesting to hear what's going on at sites such as this

Anything up to 20 Goosander ever-present at Reddish Vale at this time of the year. The Goyt at Brabyns Park, Marple and the keg Pool at Etherow are also a good places to spot them in Stockport.

There is a pond in Davenport, Stockport, that lies between Bracadale Drive and Rostrevor Road. It seems to be secured for the benefit of a private fishing club. Members will not be pleased to hear that three Goosander (two males) were present at the south end yesterday afternoon. Two Mallards and a noisy congregation of Hose Sparrows were the only other birds that I saw, though a passing Sparrowhawk disturbed the local feral pigeon flock a little further up the road.
I have passed this pond on several occasions over recent years; apart from the odd Cormorant and Mallard, I have seen nothing of interest.
We hear much gloom expressed about bird populations. Goosander, on the contrary, are doing extremely well in the Stockport area. Once quite a rare sight, I have seen them over the past couple of years quite regualrly; for example at Poynton Pool, Sykes' Reservoir, the River Goyt at Offerton, Chudleigh Close pond, and Styperson Pool.
The Goyt at Brabyns Park, Marple and the keg Pool at Etherow are also a good places to spot them in Stockport.
