Good views of the drake Ring-necked Duck in amongst the Tufted Duck on Slurry Pool this afternoon (the Mrs was pleased with her lifer!)
Lots of Sand Martin over the main water and we also managed to pick out a House Martin amongst them...spring is definitely here!

We were there too last night Rob (Myself, Henry Cook and Mike Duckham) and having arrived at 7.25pm, the Franklin's Gull had flown off somewhere else due to disturbance from the local steam train and a hungry Peregrine.
Despite there being around 30-40 birders present, we were left by ourselves at around 9.30pm (suprised so many people left so early) and a few minutes later thanks to Henry, the bird was located on the bank opposite the sailing club.
A great bird and a lifer for me and Henry and a UK lifer for Mike.

Caught up with the adult Franklin's at last - second time of asking with this bird and fourth time of asking in all.

Early morning visit for the Black-Throated Diver which gave good views near the dam before moving across to the far end. Amazing just how long these birds can stay underwater!!!!
Also 3 Female Common Scoter, a Goldeneye and a few Redwings worthy of note.
On way back popped in at Westport Lake for another look at the Ring-Necked Duck which is looking a fine example now it is reaching the end of it's moult.
