I got to see the Great White Egret today - a fantastic sight as it first of all hopped from pool to pool on the marsh and then flew all the way past me. I also saw at least 25 Whoopers, along with some Mute Swans, Greylags and some dark geese I couldn't properly identify from a distance. A Peregrine Falcon also sat on a distant post and there were at least 2 little Egrets about. I heard the Curlews calling before I eventually saw three or four of them. No photos for once as I just took my scope.

Great views of the Great White Egret also a group of Whooper Swans. Talked to a couple from Bradford who had seen Marsh Harrier and Merlin. We also saw plenty of culew and little egrets, a very chilly breeze but a lovely day.

nice walk along the ribble estuary with lots of redshank, dunlin, knot and lapwings making easy pickings for a female merlin and a peregrine.
13 little egrets in flight together and 12 brent geese headed up the river as the tide was coming in.
sad to see two jet skiers disturbing the roosting birds
curlews also plentiful and several cormerants.
