Just heard back from the Severn Estuary Gull Group that one of the LBBs I saw had been ringed on Gloucester Landfill 3.2.07 and was seen in December that year nearby. But not since until it appeared at HPR.

Now is the time that large numbers of Lesser Black-backs are moving through our area on passage from breeding areas in N Lancs. A good number of these are wearing coloured Darvic rings with numbers, letters or a combination of both, which are easily readable with scopes. I picked 2 up in about 150 birds at Heaton Park Resr today, one from the Severn RG (orange letters on royal blue) and one from N Lancs (yellow-cream letters on black) so there is a good chance of finding one. Please post the details, including: age of bird, which leg has ring, here if you see one and I will make sure it gets to the right ringing group. The frustration comes at Pennington Flash, where they tend to be right at the end of the spit, just too far away to read with a scope!!
