If you are recording for the atlas (which of course you all are!) please record White Wagtail (alba) and Pied Wagtail (yarrellii) seperately and not as Pied/White Wagtail.
Many thanks Steve

pretty sure dean although feels like a new bird, our pied is the same species, just different from the white,in fact i read somewere there are 11 sub species, that are all classed as 1 species, wether it classes as a county tick i don't know, but pretty sure white and pied are only 1 tick on the lifelist.

Unfortunately not, our Pied Wagtail (Motacilla alba yarrellii) is just a race of White Wagtail (Motacilla alba).

Is White Wagtail counted as a seperate species from Pied?
I've tried to do a search to see if this has been discussed before but the search is down. I've seen my first in the county at Rumworth yesterday. I want to tick it as i feel i've seen something new but is it a genuine tick?
Cheers Dean.
Many thanks
