Depends where you're starting from and there's always the chance of bigger birds at Aber

Bit of a longer drive to Aber than to Macc though Sid! That said Aber is a very scenic spot and well worth the visit in the summer. Henry.

Both Wood and Garden Warbler are usually to be found at Aber as well as the Redstarts

Although the original posting was re Redstarts in Saddleworth we seem to have strayed in to the realms of Spring
So don't forget the very best places for Redstarts that I know and they are....... Lathkill Dale and Aber Falls - on the trail up to the falls.

Another good place is the Goyt Valley. Park at Derbyshire Bridge just after the Cat & Fiddle pub and walk down to the reservoir. Also Pied Flys, Red Grouse, Ring Ouzel (not as reliable as in the past though), Dipper, Tree Pipit, Wood Warbler, Golden Plover and Curlew plus raptors. Magic place in May/early June!

Not in the county, but the only 100% nailed-on place I know for Redstarts is Coombes & Churnet RSPB near Leek in Staffordshire. Like Sid said you'll have to wait for the warmer weather to spot them unless you're very, very lucky! A trip to Coombes anytime after early May should give you a decent chance of spotting Redstarts and the bonus of Pied Flycatchers.
even in the breeding season there is no "good" place in Saddleworth to see Redstarts. They are featured on some of the visitors' info signs at Dove Stones so they must have been more regular there in the past. Follow Sid's advice and keep logging on to the forum. County reports will tell you where they have been seen in previous years.

Stuart welcome to the forum - Redstarts are quite rare anywhere in the UK at this time of the year they tend to be summer visitors - I suspect that should one turn up in our area it will be posted on this forum - so keep reading the posts.
