Must have just missed you Rob as I too meet Paul and Steve but alas having been there since day-break, well 08.20, I too couldn't find the Firecrests. There were however 70 - 80 Pied Wags on the Toys R Us car park when I first arrived, the Gold Crests were up and down the road with a flock of Long-tailed Tits and a Sparrow Hawk giving chase on one occasion. The Lapwings and Golden Plover settled on the roof of Aldi for a time so all was not lost and at least it wasn't raining this time.

No joy again this morning but managed to add Steve S to my life list and paul Heaton to ny South Manchester list.
Still at least 2 "pairs" of Goldcrest present, and the Lapwing almost consttantly overhead.

Good to meet you Rob & Vaughan - pity we didn't get the Firecrests Rob still there's always tomorrow. Went to Dunham after I left you - only a Grey Wag out of the ordinary.

Managed a lifer this morning in Sid and a good year tick seeing Vaughan for the first time in ages, but no Firecrests.
Vaughan had two views, one before I arrived, but all I could muster were Goldcrests.
The persistant drizzle didn't help, I gave it a good 2 hours from about 9:20.
Might try again later if the weather clears.

Yippie ,yes lucky me 2 firecrests in the bins at once,Ians post should read opposite the lieber cement silo ,but sid had one in the trees along side of the cement works so they/it were ranging quite a distance.Worthy of note I first heard the birds on wed then again thursday but was to busy to look, parked up today and located them so they may be in residence.Nice to see you sid and ann ,best of luck over the weekend :I,ll be back on monday for another try.

Found one "Crest" at about 2.15 in the conifers next to the cement works away from the trees that Geoff pointed out opposite the works when he arrived a little later. Too dark and wet by that time to confidently ID the bird. Perhaps try again in the morning when it should be less noisey from traffic.
Nice to meet you Geoff for the first time and Ann Ribbands for the second.

2 Firecrest were in a stand of conifers at Leiber Cement Silo on George Richards Way in Altringham at 1:20pm today (19th Dec), showing well from the road. Note there is no access to the yard itself.
