On two evenings last week a flock of 300+ jackdaws over our house.

At 8.30 this morning a Buzzard was seen

through my lounge window.

Flying low over the golf course towards Rumworth.

Just now:

On the grass area on the Walkway, near my house, my dog flushed a Cock Pheasant

.......from  a privet hedge.

The darkish bird (possibly a melanistic)

flew 40yards into cover.

Quite amazed me.

Further Sparrowhawk sighting today, this time from the Walkway near my house.

Sparrowhawk gained height quickly and flew off over my house and down the valley.

Back from shopping, to find whitish feathers scattered in our back garden. A minute later a Sparrowhawk flew low across next doors garden and hopped over the fence and away

Just before 11am: A Sparrowhawk flew across our Grove, very low,

and away between properties.

Good views from 35 Yards.

Just now: nice to see a Song Thrush, under my feeders and taking a drink. It got some aggro off the resident blackbirds.

The large flock of goldfinch arrived again about 4.15pm landing in the trees then taking off again dozens of times as usual, however the numbers reduced and I noticed a sparrowhawk sat on the fence below the tree. The situation continued until 4.55 when the remaining 20+ birds dived into the bushes to roost. The sparrowhawk watched with interest, but at 5.00pm gave up and flew off.

Good to see a male Reed Bunting under my garden feeders this am.

70+ goldfinch roosting again last night. It seems that most of the goldfinch have formed into one large flock as we are getting very few on the feeders and we normally have about a dozen regular visitors.

70+ goldfinch in a compact group in a tree at the bottom of the garden suddenly flew into the air and dived into a large holly bush/tree to roost. Looked like a mini version of starlings diving into a reed bed! 4.15pm today. Never seen them roost here before.

Still quiet at the renowned Rimsdale Walk berry trees.

Apart from Blackbirds, a single Redwing was present this afternoon, among 20+

Goldfinch.

A Sparrohawk flap/glided lowish nearby.

A Kestrel was seen.

Just now:nearly a mile away, across Ladybridge estate, from Pete's last post: 40+ Charm of Goldfinch around  garden trees near my house.

Flock of 50+ goldfinch in the garden yesterday.

Starling numbers are building up on the estate.

Just now at the the centre c100 mobile around the taller trees.

No sign of winter thrush but 25 Goldfinch near my house today

and a regular 6 or 7 on my feeders

A Kestrel was seen through my lounge Window.

Hovering over the golf course at 3.14 this pm.

Just now, seconds apart: 2 Kestrel crossing Armadale Road at rooftop height. Coming from the golf course trees near Arran Close.

9.40 this am:

Charm of c40 Goldfinch medium height over back gardens near my house . Some landing on the nearby Lombardy Poplars.

This flock has been building up over recent weeks.

Just now. Seen from my garden, two Swifts chased over nearby gardens, heading down to the valley.

Just now: a male Brambling looking at my feeders, from a neighbours tree just over my fence.

Pair of reed buntings in our garden.

At 10am the male Lesser Redpoll was on my garden feeder again.

It stays for sometime and was still feeding when I went out.

Just now, in the large White Poplar by the walkway, near my house: A Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard drumming and then seen.

Moments earlier two Mistle Thrush had gone through, off the grass.

Flock of 50+ goldfinch in garden.

Flock of 35 goldfinch in garden plus female blackcap.

Still 2 male and 2 female bullfinch in the garden every day. They are usually in the tree above the feeders but don't often eat from them although they do feed on the ground on the seeds that the other birds knock out of the feeders, mainly sunflower hearts. Also a grey wagtail on the pond most days.
