Seen from the car at 8:30 today, 2 Little Egret stood together in a crop field close to Carr Moss Lane not very far from Halsall village.

For those who don't know it Halsall Moss is another of the areas between the A5147 Maghull to Scarisbrick Road and the A565 Formby bypass next to Plex Moss - we did both today on the way to Marshside. There is generally something to see in the big skys over the mosses but today the action or lack of it was on the ground in the form of c.200 Whooper Swans - what a sight that was - mostly sleeping but in such big numbers out of the waters of Martin Mere amazing.
