There is no access or viewing point for this tip without trespassing nowadays. With the obvious health and safety implications and really quite dangerous conditions around the tip this is seriously not to be advised.
Damn, damn and indeed damn again, it was a wild stab in the dark as one of my ambitions for the year is to get a Glauc in GM(also Hen Harrier and the mythical Wryneck). Thanks for the response Ian. Cheers Ian
Ian,if you look at my post re. Ashworth Moor Reservoir,a lot of Pilsworth gulls seem to be roosting there, get down there for the roost, probably your best chance of seeing Glaucous Gull in GMC as Ian rightly points out, there is no viewing at Pilsworth because of H and S reasons.

Tried to find a viewing point for the tip this afternoon but was unsuccessful, I was specifically trying to find Glaucous Gull as a lifer. If anyone out there could provide me with insructions as to the best place to view I would really appreciate this. Cheers Ian

As we have not been getting the big number of gulls at Heaton Park Res. this autumn Ian and I checked out the tip at Pilsworth where most of our birds come from.Viridor who run the tip are using an automated scarer which is in use even on a sunday(the B*******ds) and as a result no gulls are using the tip.Which is a great pity as viewing onto the tip is really easy now.
