Sorry I couldn't inform anyone earlier, I was on a coach taking a school trip to Chester Zoo at the time. If I'd been in a car I may have been too low down to have seen the bird. Cheers Ian

Nice one Ian. Great local bird. They get seen quite regularly towards Alderly edge and Macc but not this far north. The official boundary is the River Bollin for this part of the county which you cross quite soon after the junction. Only wish i'd have heard earlier, 2mins from my house! Henry.

This a.m. at around 9.50 just after junction 6 heading away from Manchester saw a RED KITE sat on a telegraph pole at side of Motorway. I'm pretty certain we were still in Manchester although I know the boundary is close to here. Fantastic surprise and a Manchester 1st for me
