It wasn't only the the direction of the wind that kept the water way out it was more likely the fact that tide height this pm was only 7.6 m. The really high tides earlier in the year are up to 10m.
If you want to know the times and the heights of the tides, which are really useful to birders get yourself a copy of Liverpool and Irish Sea tide table from Lavers online at www.laverpublishing.com cost about £2 so well worth having for planning trips.

I was at Marshside with my girlfriend on the 26th. We saw the Glossy Ibis from Nels Hide - straight out in front of us. It never moved whilst we were there (from abot noon till 2pm).
Apparently there are now 2 Glossy Ibis there.
Adam, you weren't there with a digiscoping setup were you? If so, I probably sat next to you in the main hide.

Went at high tide but the strong wind kept the tide way out. My first time at marsh side although i went after Martin mere on Saturday for 5 mins. This time i stayed for the afternoon and even though the wind was keeping alot of the birds down it was still a good day. Avocet, Linnet, ruddy duck, dunlin, Gargany, wigeon, teal, ringed plover and little stint were the best i saw. Hope to see the Glossy Ibis next time.
