Thanks Ian
got to the car park at 6.45ish, out on the marsh at 6.55. No sign for first 20-25 mins then it flew into the long grass for 5 mins, then onto the debris 10-15 seconds then back in the grass, then I had to go home cause the missus 'said' she wanted to go to the gym. Got home to find her with her pipe and slippers on watching the tele. not impressed could have spent another 1/2 hour there.

Went this evening. Still present. Views - good enough to tick it? yes. Good enough to appreciate a quite stunning bird - nowhere near. I got about 10-15 seconds worth of a superb red white and blue chest and then that was it - gone.
If it was a bit closer I'd be back in a shot.
Wish I'd taken Ann's advice 'cause it is a bit wet.

Could not resist this as it was a lifer for both of us! Horrible traffic on the M60, but we arrived to find it was "showing well" moving up and down the strand line (which contained rather a lot of blue plastic). It was a lovely bird, and gave good views but did not stay still long enough for a photograph and became more elusive as time went on. I would recommend wellingtons as the river bank is extremely wet!
