tim,as you say 'game on' i,ve already missed the brent geese, avocet, red throated, iceland gull etc through bad timing ,working and enjoying a game of snooker on saturday afternoons, but maybe the the great and the good actually in the 200 club will keep tossing us mere mortals the odd titbit.

I believe one of our local RSPCA inspectors is undertaking a big year list attempt, and had passed 130 by the end of March!

Geoff
I see you and me are neck and neck so I will aim for 175 too - game on! No idea what my year list is so far County or otherwise - concentraitng on County lifers. Maybe I'll tot it up - I've got a few good uns in there. However I will be hampered by having returned the hire car and I'll be back locally in S Manchester (unless I can persuade my mate Tony Darby to do more in-county twitching - he's cracking gradually).

Sounds pretty good to me - my UK year list is only 90 odd so far !
Mind you I did have 100 in Cuba earlier this year.
I guess maybe you need to 'weight' your sightings and see how many scarce to rare ones you have seen already, and you can then predict your final total.
For example winter birds are now departing, so if you haven't seen Brambling or Smew yet, you need to chase them now or risk leaving it until December when they may not be around.
Similarly now's the best time for LSW as they are starting to drum, and before the leaves are out.

Is anybody else out there keeping a county year-list for 2008? Seeing as how we are now a quarter of the way through the year, i thought it would be interesting to see how everyone is doing so far. My GM 2008 list is currently on 108. As this is the first time i've kept a county list im not sure if this is good, poor or average... what's evertyone else on?
EDIT - oops, make that 109, forgot to add Pink-Feet
