Whilst angling I had great pleasure in watching a female Sparrowhawk drop prey for two juveniles who perched in a willow. Obviously only one was successful in catching the meal.
Mum was to and fro with food but only one drop witnessed another magic moment.

A female spotted flycatcher just outside Swettenham village this afternoon. Just near a ford that runs over the road. I had identified this spot as a good spot for a flycatcher and when i returned to look, it was the first bird i saw! I suspect there may be more than just one here, but it was all i saw this evening around 8.45-9.10pm.

The Rostherne bird only needs to fly north a couple of hundred metres to make it over the border...
Had super views of the Poynton Cattle Egret this lunchtime - well worth the visit.

Real slog round SJ78H today for the atlas. Only managed 25 species in two hours. Most of the small birds were keeping their heads down :(
Huge numbers of Fieldfare though near Booth Bank - a flock of at leat 80.
