flushed two snipe on sunday afternoon (3 - 3.30pm)
kingfisher and several calling (2/3) water rail on saturday

Thanks for the Bittern info, that can go on the WeBS count as well! Having slogged round all the flashes on the bike, Pearson's was my last call, and the weather was closing in at 1230pm. Some lads went along that new path along the side of the landfill, and I guess they pushed the raft of Mallards out - they weren't there when I first arrived. I saw what I first put down as a Teal with them, then it turned around...

I didn't have time to go to the back reedbed where the Cetti's is. Any other birds, other than the Bittern, I should have counted? Water Rails - any guesses at numbers? Any other duck or snipe(s)?

dipper hargreaves here,when looking for rare birds i,ve always found that having a picture or at least an idea of what you,re looking for helps,so try 'google image' which has some cracking images of this duck which isn,t listed in my three reference books,hope it,s still there in the morning.

green-winged teal showed very well at about 330pm but had been elusive for about 45 mins before then. bittern didnt show again but cettis still present.

Basically I great find by Judith who was out on her bike (yes, bicycle ) doing her a WeBS counts. Proof that there's no substitute for being out and about

That Bittern was incredible it was right near the metal gate at the corner of the sewage works!

Green Winged Teal still on and off 3.20pm same place, seen by the Adderleys!

Present at 1400-1425 underneath the overhanging trees. Seen well for 2-3 minutes out in the open, then became more elusive in the undergrowth. Not seen again by 3.05pm.

Very good spot my Mr.Warfy-2nd of the day (for all those of you out there who are missing him-yes he still does exist!!!!)

Bittern flew out of reeds at 2pm only 15ft away from us on our way down the track to the flash

Judith Smith found a drake Green-winged Teal at Pearsons Flash at 12:50 today, at the rear of the flash if viewed form the canal. Later, due to the weather the bird had moved underneath the overhanging trees along the Ince Moss Landfill edge to shelter from the weather and was last seen by Ian Woosey at 13:30 still sheltering underneath the trees and bushes
