For info, this site is at SD575095. It's at the south end of Standish, wedged between the West Coast Mainline railway and the A49 Wigan Road.
Access can be gained at a few points, either off the A49 by parking at Ashfield Park and taking a footpath east through the woodland, or off the A49 take Pilgrim's Way, then park on or near Delfhaven Court and there's a gate on to the site. Off the A5106 Chorley Road, take Water Drive, just north of the Boar's Head pub, then on to Lordy Close where there is another gate on to the site.
There are several planted woodland blocks on this site which attract finch flocks.
