Walk with kids on Tues 19th August 2008, rather wet! 14.15-16.00
I was told about a possible Barn Owl at Reddish a couple of months ago and also sightings of one flying over the farm land near Bredbury Hall close to where I live a couple of weeks back. I photograph at both sites at least twice a week and have yet to spot one.
A clutch of 4 Kestrel chicks have sucessfully fledged in the last week at Reddish and Buzzards can be seen often near the motorway bridge. Sightings of Kingfishers at Reddish have declined over the past month...Possibly because of the vegetation I suspect.
In the last week, I've spotted Kestrel, Buzzards, Sparrowhawk and Little Owl at the Bredbury sight as well as a good amount of Swallows, Lapwings and the usual common garden species.

It was the Bredbury side to the Reddish Vale 'dip' of the motorway so may be same bird. He saw it quite close up too- made his day. He has done that route every work day for past 17 years @ same time & never seen it before, mind you that section can be fun in rush hour with the Bredbury slip road joing the middle of the motorway. I'll tell him to keep his eyes peeled, carefully! Rae

Interesting. There was a sighting on one crossing the M60 at the Bredbury turn-off on 24.8.06 - not too far away?

Tues 2/7/08 17.50pm Hubby saw barn owl fly straight across M60 motorway heading towards Reddish Vale direction (motorway stretch between Bredbury and Denton just before where the motorway crosses Reddish Vale). First ever seen around here though did see the one over at Viridor Wood. Rachael
