Barrow Bridge, Wednesday 1st August (how the hell did that get round so fast), dinner-time
Redstart- a female calling and seen very briefly (due to the bloody thick cover there) opposite the very last house up the road before you reach the track up the woods themselves. I stuck around this area for a while (far too long according to my son!) but didn't see or hear her again, including when I was coming back down to the car park. Whether she's part of a breeding pair I couldn't say, there certainly weren't any noisy youngsters around but the whole area looks spot on for them (and Pied Flycatcher and perhaps Wood Warbler but none of these I'm afraid) and doesn't get covered very regularly, especially considering there's lots of little off-shoots and hidden bits you can't get to.
Coal Tit- loads, mainly juveniles
Long-tailed Tit- bloody loads, mainly juveniles
Lesser Redpoll- 2 flew over calling
