Red-breasted Merganser at Pennington today, briefly at 08:30 and 3 Whimbrel over (info per John Lyons).
I had a Lesser Whitethroat singing briefly at the Slag Lane end, just off the canal tow path where the telephone/power lines cross the canal and a Garden Warbler on the south side behind the top path path the East Bay hide. Also, a Lesser Whitehthroat has been singing on and off between Teal Hide and the brook apparently. The drake Garganey was showing ridiculously well below Horrock's Hide and gave certainly my best views ever of the species!
Same at Rumworth late afternoon, loads of House Martins.
