I did contact Birdwatch magasine to see if they'd put a small note in about this new site, so I'm assuming they did do, as I don't actually read the magasine? There's about 6 column inches. The review starts off "This new site is another great example of one which provides everything you might need if you are in the city." Perhaps you'll see an influx of members.
Alternatively, the county bird report is an invaluable source of bird information and details of it can be found within the main webiste. I'll check this out - it's always seemed easier to find information about birds in other parts of the country than in your own area.

Typically Woodcocks can be very difficult to see but with over 100 users on this forum now, there'll be someone along at some time with some good info, perhaps closer to a time when they're roding. Alternatively, the county bird report is an invaluable source of bird information and details of it can be found within the main webiste.

I'm new here and thought I'd post a message. I did used to visit the old web site but one day it just seemed to disappear - just found this one via Birdwatch magazine.
I go out birdwatching with my girlfriend Sue, quite often outside of Manchester. I suppose my local patch is Elton Res, in Bury. I live about half a mile away (must make an effort to check it out more often). I live in a flat with a comunal garden and fishing lodge next door - hence my "garden/lodge" bird list which currently stands at 58.
Probably bumped into some members here as we go to Pennington about once a month (usually Saturday morning).
Would love to know anywhere local where we have a good chance of seeing Woodcock. Like many novice birders (well, about 2 years now!), we seem to have picked up a few "rarities" (Green Heron, Pallid Harrier, Glossy Ibis, Pacific Diver etc.) but have still to see some of the really "easy" stuff (Garden Warbler, Shag, Cuckoo etc).
