It's good to see that the area has featured well on this forum recently, which means that there have been more birders covering the area, something it's been crying out for. Sometimes it can be a desolate, apparently birdless place and others, a great day out with plenty of really good stuff to see, I'm just glad more birders are getting out there as a lot must go unnoticed due to a lack of observer cover

Hi Ian Its the first SE Owl that I have seen on the moss since last October. It was also good to see the flocks of yellowhammers flying about as in the 1970`s I rarely saw more than 2-3 at a time.

The Short-eared Owl is a great find Dave, nice one . You should have been in the Tournament though as it would have been worth 3 points

210+ Lapwings and 1 Hare in the field next to Allwood farm on Astley moss.
At least 15 Yellowhammers and 6 Chaffinches in the hedges beside field 69 and Rindle road. Many Tree sparrows at the small feeding station, also heard a Willow tit but could not see it.
20 Yellowhammers with Blue and Longtailed tits near Birch farm field 60.
1 Short Eared Owl hunting in fields 11+10 beside 12 yards road , it flushed a pair of hares but ignored them.
