on res female Shoveler, 8 goosander, male Pochard, 9 goldeneye (5 also on Withins but these may have relocated due to the landing of the air ambulance) Heard two Water Rails in Marsh, Kestrel, several flocks of house sparrows, pied wagtail, fieldfares, kingfisher and bullfinch in Hinds Mill/weir site which looks as if some one is trying to develop or reopen.

Midmorn-afternoon
On res still 3 Redshank, 5 Goosander, Grey Wagtail, Withins Res 30 Tufted, 21 Teal and 2 Gadwall, west end of res 5 Bullfinch Redwing and an odd Fieldfare, down at the end of the canal near old railway viaduct Chiffchaff that gave five calls in the early sunshine.

A visit this afternoon 2.00-4.15 allowed me to see the following:
Fieldfare Redwing Little grebe Reed Bunting Goosander (2 females and 1 male) Pochard Teal Great Crested Grebe Heron Grey Wagtail Plus usual's
The highlight was watching a Kingfisher on the main reservoir flying back and forth along the shore line then hovering over the water for 10 seconds and landing on a perch which allowed me to look at it for a while.

This morning,
150+ Redwings around the hedges, easier to count when 2 Sparrowhawks are in the area.
110 Woodpigeons flying SW were the only birds on the move, also present were 5 Shoveler, 2 Goldeneye, 4 Little Grebe, 8 Teal, 75 Tufted Ducks, Kingfisher, Peregrine and a single Goldcrest along the Cycle track.

7.30 to 10.15am, mainly Vis Mig watching from field west of Withins, turned out to be one of my best decisions of the year!
At 8.30am a ringtail Hen Harrier flew south west, picked it up south of Crow Trees Farm being mobbed by at least 5 Crows and within a couple of minutes it was lost to view behind the Cemetry. (The first Elton record for 8 years).
Also moving was one drake Pintail which flew west at 8am, 1,346 Fieldfare in 10 parties, 19 Redwing, 123 Woodpigeon, 3 Meadow Pipits, 18 Chaffinch, 1 Reed Bunting high west, 6 Starling NW & 1 Blackbird high south.
Birds present included 9 Teal, 2 drake Shoveler, 3 Little Grebe, 13 Great Crested Grebe, 72 Tufted Duck, 18 Common Gull, 18 Cormorant, 2 Kingfisher, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Peregrine, 1 Lesser Redpoll with around 20 Goldfinches at the top end of Withins. Also 80+ Redwing down in the hedges.
1 Roe Deer.
Yesterday 1st Nov at first light 1,000+ Pink-footed Geese flew SE in 4 skiens.
