early morning walk in darkness but still plenty of singing birds 2 mistle thrush singing loudly from 06-10, plenty of robin and blackbird singing but these tended to be close to the road with street lights. canada geese heard but not seen. at least 4 little grebe calling,

13.50 - dusk 1 Drake Mandarin -FTF first I have seen here 1 Kingfisher - FTF 2 Common Gull on football field 3 Teal - C10 single Common Snipe - FTF Water Rail calling at dusk from Nevisons 2 Kestrel 45 Redwing my estimation might be a bit high but I reckon on 5 to 7000 Starling in tonights roost, which is by far the largest roost I have seen here. they flew in from all directions, 3/4 roosted in central ditch and the rest in Nevisons.

morning dog walk diggle flash- 64 tufted duck, 52 coot, 9 gadwall, 6 mallard, 8 black headed gull, 3 moorhen, 1 great crested grebe, 1 little grebe, 2 adult mute swan no sign of the cygnet thats been on the stock pond the past couple of days, several goldfinch flocks of 17, 7, 5 and 2 x 3s, 8 long tailed tit, 1 chaffinch, blackbird, robin,wren, dunnock, 1 reed bunting, magpie,carrion crow, wood pigeon, 5 meadow pipit in C7 where the promised cattle have finally been moved in although not the longhorns they originally said we would be getting i think these are a highland cattle breed black wooly cattle i saw 12 closely grouped together.

late morning/early afternoon c60 long tailed tit in various flocks around walk biggest flock 20+ smallest 8, 16 goldfinch, 3 reed bunting, 3 meadow pipit, 1 common gull on new water, blackbird,great tit,blue tit, dunnock,wren,robin, 2 chaffinch, 1m bullfinch, 3 jay, 1 grey heron over, 32 jackdaw over NW @ 11-30 ish 1 jackdaw SE about 10 mins later, magpie,carrion crow, wood pigeon, 5 black headed and 3 lesser black backed gulls over, diggle flash- c80 tufted duck C10 floods were frozen so some probably moved from there as i saw nothing at all on floods, c50 coot, 14 gadwall, 2m pochard, 2 great crested grebe, 2 little grebe seen 2 more heard only, 6 mallard, 2 moorhen, 17 black headed gull, 3 mute swan 2 residents on main flash 1 cygnet on stock pond talking to one gentleman who seems to think it may be the cygnet from the resident pair we had both heard stories the cygnet had died but this gentleman also heard it had been taken by the rspa unwell and thinks it may have been nursed back to health and returned ?

2 meadow pipit, 2 reed bunting, flock of c25 mixed tits with 2 willow tit amongst them 3 blue tit and approx 10 each great tit and long tailed tit, 2 jackdaw, 1 jay, blackbird, robin, dunnock,wren, magpie,carrion crow,wood pigeon, Diggle flash- kingfisher on stock pond, 9 mallard with one cream coloured seemed smaller than others so possibly a call duck, could only see 1m pochard today and didn't see any gadwall although they often take cover in the reed beds, c40 tufted duck, c40 coot, 2 mute swan, 3 moorhen, 2 great crested grebe, 1 little grebe, 8 black headed gull, 1 lesser black backed gull.

my estimation might be a bit high but I reckon on 5 to 7000 Starling in tonights roost, which is by far the largest roost I have seen here. they flew in from all directions, 3/4 roosted in central ditch and the rest in Nevisons.
