After working nearer to home our next call was around the corner so lunch was spent looking over the reservoirs.
Not too much showing but two Common Snipe flew into the fauna of No 1, which also had one Goldeneye (f) Teal (m) a pair of Goosander and mixed Gulls mostly Common.
No 3 held mostly Black headed Gulls, a pair of Shoveler which gave us GM bird 59, Goldeneye, Coot and Tufted duck.
There was a very noticeable absence of "small" birds even when a Peregrine came through nothing was around to flush apart from a few Feral Pigeon.
Whilst passing the "well" a Gull was in the air I just wish I took more notice of them to distinguish between Caspian and Yellow legged, it was an adult bird. Very pale grey and no streaking on the head and yellow legs.
I am sorry for my incompetence as a Guller.

Hi Lez,
Thank you for the advice. I did do a bit more research and found an email address to contact.
Yes, I'm really enjoying all the aspects of birding! I have a pretty stressful job and this has really helped me think about something else! It's pretty much five pursuits rolled in one; puzzle solving, exercise (albeit with a fair bit of stopping ), research, conservation and list making...etc etc
At the moment looking at what I can explore in Greater Manchester but equally preoccupied by the back garden and walking around. I can't really talk to people outside any more because the sight of something flying past distracts me

Hi Natalie,
I believe this site is permit only which can be obtained by applying to United Utilities - but expect a lengthy wait for its issue.
I visited this site late 2019 before I was a member of this forum & managed to get access via a well trodden path leading to a hole in the fence (totally unaware that access was permit only) & like you was really keen to visit as many different sites as possible. However I was soon approached by a site regular who kindly informed me of its restrictions - despite the fact dog walkers & uncouth looking scrotes were also walking round!
So nice to see your obvious enthusiasm for birding - there is nothing like that feeling you get when seeing a bird for the first time!
